ZDS is actively involved in several international and Slovene projects as the project manager and as a partner. Regularly, we are applying for new projects for foreign and domestic competitions. The projects presented are an important channel of international lobbying and for gaining new knowledge.

To strengthen social dialogue

The project "To strengthen Social Dialogue", selected on a public tender by the Ministry of Labor, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities for co-financing projects of social partners, will strengthen the capacity of the members of the Association of Free Trade Unions of Slovenia (ZSSS) to cooperate more effectively in social dialogue processes, with an emphasis on knowledge and enforcement of labour market rights, the acquisition of fundamental and professional competences, and the protection and preservation of health.

WIM 3: Workers’ involvement in management – awareness, experiment, monitoring

The project WIM3 will help to deepen the understanding in participating countries of an importance of workers' participation schemes, and will serve employers' and workers' representatives as a tool to exchange know-how and experience. It will be helpful to familiarize all relevant stakeholders with EU law and policies, as well as serve as a facilitator for new developments to prepare/improve new/existing legislation on employee involvement, taking into account EU law and policies.

The promotion of reconciliation of work-family life and legislation in this field has become a necessity for a range of reasons. Measures traditionally originate from gender equality concerns. They also support the economy as they facilitate the participation of individuals in paid work, can have a positive effect on fertility rates, and can also boost pension systems. For all of these reasons reconciliation has become an increasingly important topic.

The financial and economic crisis had a strong and persistent impact on the European economy. As a response to these circumstances, European countries introduced different measures to change the labour code to mitigate the negative labour market effects of the economic downturn and increase competitiveness of Europe. Labour law measure were core elements of these changes and were observably adjusted in many European countries. The labour market reforms often affect the quality of collective bargaining.

TH sector is one of the largest and most dynamic growth industries in today’s global economy. However, this sector is often characterized by many problems and difficult working conditions. To continue its sustainable growth for the benefit of employers, workers and the world economy, the problems should be taken into account. This project will address them, particularly through social dialogue that builds on openness, trust and the involvement of the main stakeholders. Within this project social partners at national level will be informed about the importance of the European level social dialogue where their voice can be heard by the national and European authorities.

WIM 2: Workers involvement – straight to the challenges

On the basis of successfully implemented project “WIM: Workers involvement for better and sustainable management in undertakings in Slovenia, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia”, which identified the current situation and existing legislation on employee involvement in undertakings in Candidate Countries, as well as initiated actions to familiarise the social partners and actors at company level with the content of EU law on employee involvement, project partners expressed their interest to participate in the follow-up project WIM 2. The project WIM 1 opened some interesting issues in the companies and directed them to address employees’ involvement as an integral part of their corporate policies.

Arguments for gender balance in economic decision-making focus on three levels. At the macro or societal level, gender balance in decision-making is desirable because of arguments for social justice and gender equality. At the opposite end, at the micro or individual level, the debate has centred around individual rights for women and the need to dismantle glass ceilings and achieve parity for pay.
