On Tuesday 8th November 2016 the final conference entitled “Together towards better performance in the Hospitality and Tourism sector” was held in Ljubljana.

At the conference activities of the project “Tourism is people”, which aimed at strengthening the social dialogue in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia, were presented to the general public. The discussion was an opportunity to exchange the employers’ views on employment in the hospitality and tourism sector and on the difficulties which they face in securing the necessary profiles of employees, and to present the measures of the Employment Service of the Republic of Slovenia to enhance employability in this sector.

Views of the European sectoral social partners on the emergence and development of the “sharing economy”, which has substantially interfered in the hospitality and tourism sector, were presented, and views of Slovenian employers and trade unions on how and in which direction the social dialogue should develop in the future.

At the end, the participants were acquainted with two interesting topics. The first related to the tips, as one of the possible tools to increase employee motivation and to improve the quality of the service in hospitality and tourism. The second covered the conflict situations and how to react when facing difficult clients, whit whom the employees in the hospitality and tourism sector are in the frequent contact.

In parallel with the conference a press conference was held where the Association of Employers of Slovenia and the Trade Union of Hospitality and Tourism Sector of Slovenia highlighted the key problems of the sector and listed number of solutions for how to solve them.
