It has been determined that trade unions, firms and the employers’ association have insufficient knowledge of this field. Trade unionists today differ considerably in their attitudes towards FP. Some see it as a management tool designed to capture employee loyalty and weaken union influence. Employer representatives emphasise the social as well as the economic benefits of FP, while their trade union counterparts limit their expectations to improving working conditions.

The Latvian employers’ association, LDDK, expects FP to become a topic of interest among the companies in the near future. Neither the LDDK nor the trade unions have formed an official position on the issue.
